FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What are my packaging options?
We offer our premium teas and spices in two distinct styles: our signature Steam and Spice Glass Jars and eco-friendly Refill Pouches. Both options contain the exact same weight of product, giving you the choice between an elegant countertop display or a convenient refill.
Why do you offer Glass Jars and Refill Pouches?
Glass jars are the absolute best way to preserve loose-leaf tea and spices. Unlike metal containers, which can oxidize delicate herbs, or paper packaging, which lacks an airtight seal, glass perfectly locks in freshness, flavor, and natural essential oils.
However, we also believe in sustainability and accessibility. Our refill pouches achieve both goals—offering you a more affordable option while minimizing environmental waste. Because pouches are not intended for long-term storage, we recommend transferring your refills into a glass jar immediately upon receipt to keep your blends perfectly fresh.
Are the glass jars and lids dishwasher safe?
Our durable glass jars are 100% dishwasher safe. However, because our wooden lids are made from natural materials, they are hand-wash only to preserve their seal and finish over time.
How many servings are in a jar or pouch?
For Teas: Each pack yields approximately 15 to 45 servings, depending on your preferred brewing strength (e.g., whether you use 1 teaspoon or 1 tablespoon per cup).
For Culinary Spices: The number of servings depends entirely on your recipes and personal taste preferences!
How do I brew your teas for the best flavor?
We recommend adding 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon of loose-leaf tea to your infuser. Pour 12 ounces of boiling water over it for a robust cup, or 16 ounces for a lighter profile, and steep for 3 to 5 minutes. Pro Tip: Set a timer! Steeping certain botanicals for too long can draw out unexpected natural bitterness. As a general rule of thumb, herbs should be steeped in water heated to 212 degrees Fahrenheit (boiling), whereas traditional green or white tea should be steeped in water no hotter than 175 degrees Fahrenheit.
Can I cold brew your herbal teas?
Absolutely! Many of our floral and rooibos botanicals make incredible cold brews. For a refreshing iced treat, steep 1/2 cup of tea in a half gallon of cold, filtered water in the fridge before straining. Floral and green teas thrive with an 8 to 12-hour steep, while rich red rooibos loves a full 12 to 14 hours. However, please note that certain dense or delicate herbs, such as Calendula, require hot water to properly extract their intricate flavor profiles. To ensure the best sensory experience, we only include cold brew instructions on the listings of herbs and blends that deliver phenomenal flavor when steeped cold.
How do I use the Coffee Spice blend?
Our sugar-free Coffee Spice blend is designed to be brewed directly with your coffee. For drip coffee, pour-overs, or French presses, simply mix 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of the spice mix directly into your dry coffee grounds before brewing. This ensures the aromatic essential oils filter seamlessly into your cup without leaving a gritty texture at the bottom of your mug.
Are your products intended to treat medical conditions?
No. All of our teas and seasoning mixes are marketed strictly as conventional foods and culinary ingredients. While our ingredients are rich in natural antioxidants and traditionally celebrated for supporting daily vitality, our products are meant to nourish a healthy, balanced lifestyle and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition or disease.
Why do you include "Safety Notes" on your listings?
Because every individual's body interacts with active botanicals uniquely! We believe in total transparency. Our Safety Notes highlight standard context guidelines—such as common plant family allergens (like the daisy family) or standard advice regarding pregnancy and scheduled medical procedures—so you can mindfully integrate our foods into your personal routine.
Can I drink these teas if I am pregnant, nursing, or taking medications?
While our ingredients are premium and kitchen-safe, certain traditional botanicals can naturally stimulate or relax body systems. Out of an abundance of caution, we always recommend reviewing our Safety Notes and consulting with a qualified healthcare practitioner or your care team before introducing new concentrated herbal products into your routine if you are pregnant, nursing, or managing daily prescription medications.
